The Economics discipline was offered at the pre-degree level in the early stage, and in 1957 the department of Economics became an independent segment by offering Under Graduate Programme in Economics. In 2018-19 the department has introduced Post Graduate Programme in M.A. Economics to provide a strong foundation on theories of economics and enrich the knowledge of the students.

It has helped the new India to grow by the dynamic and knowledgeable young girls who have established and proved themselves as successful teachers, professors, entrepreneurs, bank officers, administrators, politicians and social workers.

The department has signed MoU with MYTHE Creators, a Unit of C3 Technologies, Coimbatore. The department offers a certificate course in Desk Top Publishing.

Taking stock of what has gone by in these 60 glorious years, the department is indeed proud of all its achievements and triumphs of her dedicated staff and enthusiastic students in different fields.
