A glorious moment for me to pen on my Alma mater.Nirmala College for Women where I have spent three treasured years.I view my College as the leading temple of Caring and Sharing promoting women education for decades.The Institution is keen on imparting quality eduction with good intra and interpersonal skills. I remember my Alma Mater as my nurturer, my haven, a place I called my own for 15 years. which even after so many of its existence still stands rock-solid to its motto, ‘Knowledge Purifies” “Charity Enhances”. • The answer is undoubtedly the 5 years I spent at Nirmala College for Women. I studied UG and PG Mathematics, not knowing I was studying and preparing for life in its entirety.
• I stood in the 1st and 2nd year college elections, participated in every possible drama, dance, interdepartmental and inter-collegiate event. I also aced academics, toping university in PG. I learnt how to visualize creative ideas, how to collaborate with professors for projects, how to negotiate with peers to pitch in for assignments and how to resolve conflicts. As young adults, Nirmala College provided a platform to learn academics, extra-curricular activities and discover ourselves
• Today, in professional life, I use all these learnt skills, on a daily basis. Truly, college life is a microcosm of professional and personal life.

I still vividly remember spending hours at the parade ground perfecting every drill, discovering my passion for writing, dancing and running. • If I get one wish, I would want to revisit my 3 years I spent at Nirmala College! The classrooms, friends, professors who left a lasting impact are the moments that fills my heart with joy!

• Warm greeting! My name is Gabriele Rufina Benno and I am proud Nirmalite who graduated from the department of Geography in the year 2022. I remember walking through the gates of the college for the first time in 2019 soon after I completed my schooling, I came with my father to get the prospects of the college and to find out more about the department I was interested in. Coming from a small town, about a 100 km away from Coimbatore, that offered a rather limited choices to students when it came to degree programs, I was more than happy that Nirmala College for Women offered B.Sc. Geography. Speaking about Geography, it has been my favourite subject since 5th grade which over time became my passion. I was very determined to pursue a degree in Geography but the problem was a very few institutions offered this degree program, NCW being one.

• From the very beginning it was the professors of the department who really encouraged me and made me fee like I was making the right choice to join the college, that too as a part of the geography department. After my first visit to the college, I had made up my mind to join the college and I am very glad I did.

• Just as everyone, I had my doubts, hesitations and nervousness the first few days and I was also quiet low in spirit being away from home for the first time. But the way the management and institution welcomed and supported everyone was very comforting and reassuring. All of these might seem trivial but it has really helped me in becoming a confident person and that I was able to show as a proficient student. There were many opportunities where I could speak my mind and express my talents.

• If there is one thing that Nirmala inculcated in me is that with confidence you can do anything you put your mind to but at the same time it is very important to stay humble. When I say one can do anything it doesn’t literally mean anything, it means actions that are beneficial to other, actions that would display our morals. Now this is something that every student at Nirmala is taught through the Catechism and Moral Value classes. My college would never lead anyone in the wrong way, no matter what. The virtue of humbleness is something I learned from the nuns who run the institution, they are all very highly educated people but they are very simple people whom you can approach anytime for anything.

• All of this has really helped me shine really well as a student. I took extra interest in my studies, and my professors really encouraged me to grow in various aspects. At the end of my studies, I emerged as a rank holder in my department, having scored with first class with distinction. My journey with Nirmala has shaped me into a bright student and the marks I scored has set a concrete path for me to further pursue a Master’s degree in the year to come. I am planning to pursue my Master’s in a university abroad. A smalltown girl aiming to fly to another confident, all on her own to chase her dreams…truly I have had the best education at such a prestigious university and only that could have been a reason for me to have dreamed my dream. Therefore, my heartfelt gratitude and love will always be there for my college, Nirmala College for Women.

• The above quote is well suit for me because I get attracted towards what I really wanted. I had an unique experience in my college journey because I didn't even know this is the platform where I can find the exact way for what I am going to become. It gave me plenty of opportunities to find my uniqueness. I came to know more about Science especially Physics. Gradually my knowledge in Physics was improved. In addition, I got an unexpected chance to learn a European language (French) and that I had no idea that I was going to pursue my career in this field. Though I learnt various lessons those are essential for life such as self-discipline, time management, adaptability and multiple goodness.

• I can proudly say I took my first step for this marvelous journey from the Nirmala. I will be always thankful for Nirmala to mold my life in appropriate direction.
