Department of Physics

  • To impart scientific knowledge to students from various disciplines so as to instill a curiosity in the field of Physics.

  • To understand the basic and advanced principles in the field of science with Physics as the core.

The Department of Physics was started in 1950 at the Intermediate level. In 1956, the subject was taught at the Pre-University level. In the following year, Physics was upgraded to an Ancillary subject for the Undergraduate students of Mathematics and later in 1979, was also introduced to students of Chemistry.

  • The Department organized a workshop in 2012.
  • Remedial classes-both in theory and practicals are conducted regularly to help slow learners compete with the other students.
  • Abdul Kalam Prize was instituted from 2006.
  • Study tours, field visits, energy conservation surveys form a regular part of the curriculum.
  • The laboratory is well-equipped with instruments like Digital IC Trainer, Digital and Analog Meters and Bread board.
