The Department of Mathematics began its journey with an Under Graduate Course in 1948 and was upgraded to the Post Graduate level in 1975 and now it stands as a full - fledged Department with the introduction of Research Programmes. Interactive teaching methodologies like lectures, seminars, assignments and guest lectures are adopted to enliven the classroom atmosphere. Special care is administrated to Tamil medium students to boost their confidence. Regular tutor - ward sessions yield healthy relationships between staff and students.

The Department is proud of its versatile and inspiring staff members who take the pride of serving the cause of education, the nobility of its goal of uplifting the down - trodden and its unparalleled art of moulding clay into gold in academics with a tender touch. The staff members constantly enhance their knowledge by attending International / National Seminars, Workshops, Conferences and Refresher Courses. They also share their knowledge and expertise with other Institutions through Guest Lectures.

  • NET / SET coaching classes are conducted regularly
  • Post Graduate Diploma course in Operations Research (PGDOR)is offered to the PG students

  • The advanced learners are motivated to enroll themselves in the summer training programmes in Mathematics conducted by institutions like Ramanujan Institute for Advanced study in Mathematics, University of Madras,Chennai-5.and Mathematics Training and talent search Programme, I.C.T Mumbai.
  • Incessant showers of success of the students makes the department unique with over all pass percentage ranging between 90 - 100%
  • To bring about diversity and flexibility in the UG Degree courses the skill based subject is chosen such that it prepares the students for competitive examinations.
  • The Department has organized 8 National Seminars and 17 Workshops
  • Hands - on Training in software packages - SPSS, MATLAB and LATEX is provided
  • The Math Wing Club organizes various events for students, both in schools and colleges to kindle their interest in Mathematics
  • The Project Mission α → Ω aims at uplifting the students who are academically and economically weak
  • NEST - O.S.A started in the Pearl Jubilee Year of the PG Course, contributes significantly to the development of the Department
  • Our students are placed in various Educational Institutions, MNCs, Banking and Insurance Sectors.

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTER SCIENCE 2016
