HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Department offers several job oriented papers, with updated curriculum inculcating the recent trends and practicalities in the entire course content.
  • To enrich the students on the current scenario of the business world, the department conducts seminars, workshops, symposium regularly. A UGC-Sponsored National Seminar on "Financial Literacy - Present Trends and Future Challenges" was conducted on 22nd and 23rd February 2013. The keynote address was given by Mr.Kulandai Francis, recipient of Magsaysay Award 2012.
  • The students undergo a minimum of 15 days institutional training in any of the business establishment and submit a project report based on their training which is a mandatory exercise.
  • The students of Commerce Department not only excel in Academics but also in co – curricular activities like NCC, NSS, etc., Aswathi ( Batch: 2012 – 2015) participated in the RD Camp which is the testimony for the same. C.U.O Gulnar Zara.H(2007 - 2010), an NCC cadet attended the Republic Day Camp at Rajpath on 26th January and was invited for a tea party with the President at Rashtrapathi Bhavan. She also took part in the Prime Minister's Rally on 28th January at New Delhi and was honored by the Governors of Tamilnadu and Pondicherry. Hemasree.J (2009 - 2012) and Bhuneshwari ( 2008 – 2011) of B.Com have won accolades in the national and international athletics arena with their participation in the Junior Commonwealth Games held at Pune and secured the 5th position and bronze medal respectively. In the Junior Asian Games held at Jakarta, Indonesia, she secured the first place. She has been selected for the Junior Commonwealth Games 2010.
  • The faculty offer career guidance and counseling to students on a regular basis. To enhance the employability of the students the department offers certificate courses like "Business Process Services in Accounting and Finance", "Campus to Corporate" and "Tally". Many students are placed in MNC's like TCS, CTS, Ford Business Services, Infosys, IBM, etc., through on-campus and off - campus placement drives.
  • With pride the department would like to mention many students take up professional courses like ACA, ACS, CMA and MBA after graduation.
  • Many of our alumni are practicing Chartered Accountants, Company Secretaries and holding high positions as Principal, Professors of various educational institutions, Executives and Managers in Banking and Insurance sectors and a few Women Entrepreneurs.
  • The Department has produced 69 M.Phil and 6 Ph.D scholars.
  • Besides the students actively participate in the literary and the cultural events conducted in the intra and inter collegiate competitions and brought laurels to the department.
